Hi, I’m Tom Gaumond with G2 Insurance Services. Welcome to our FAQ series, where we answer some of the most common questions people have about working with an independent insurance agency.
One question clients often ask is: What role does an independent insurance agent play when I have a claim?
The first step in any claim is usually a conversation with your agent. Before filing a claim, it’s important to determine whether it makes sense to do so. Depending on your deductible and the amount of damage involved, filing a claim may not always be the best option. We can help you evaluate the situation and understand your options before moving forward.
If a claim needs to be filed, we can help submit the claim to your insurance company and make sure the process gets started correctly. From there, the insurance company’s claims team takes the lead. The carriers we work with have experienced claims professionals whose job is to investigate claims, explain coverage, and guide policyholders through the process.
In most cases, the claim is handled directly between you and the insurance company. However, there are times when questions arise or additional assistance is needed. If that happens, we’re here to help.
As your insurance advisor, we can step in to clarify policy language, help facilitate communication, and work with the insurance company to ensure your concerns are being addressed. While we don’t make claim decisions, we can serve as a knowledgeable resource and advocate throughout the process.
At G2 Insurance Services, our goal is to make sure you understand your coverage, know what to expect, and have someone you can turn to when questions come up—before, during, and after a claim.
